How To Help Your Employees In Orlando Work Remotely

Help Your Orlando Employees Work Remotely By Following This Simple How-To

Here at SemTech IT Solutions, we truly hope that you and your loved ones and work colleagues are doing well during this trying time.

The current pandemic we are facing is unprecedented. As a result, it is drastically changing the way everyone conducts business, especially in regards to how you go about collaborating with your coworkers and serving your customers and clients. For most companies, the biggest response to the pandemic has been to send employees home, allowing them to work remotely.

While working from home has been an option for companies for many years, more people are working from home now than ever before. Moreover, this way of carrying out business may become the norm. This is why we wanted to present some important tips for helping you and your team work better from home. Here are the top considerations you should make as you transition your company to a potentially permanent remote work environment.

Top Questions to Ask Before Having Employees Work From Home

1. Which employees can go and which need to say? Some of your employees may need to continue working in-house at your brick-and-mortar location.

2. How’s your IT security? Even if you feel confident about the current state of your IT security, keep in mind that you will need to extend the security that you have in-house to all of the remote locations where your employees will be working (i.e., their homes). Make sure that you have the proper licensing to be able to do this.

3. For those employees who can work remotely, does everyone have their own devices (laptops, smartphones, tablets, etc.)? Or will you need to provide these devices?

4. Do you have a plan for replacing in-person meetings? Consider Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, and other video options.

5. Even if you have the best IT security, there are some files, systems, and other data that you should not allow to be accessed by outside sources (those working at home on their own equipment). Make sure that your employees and coworkers know about this sensitive data.

6. Will your current phone, Internet, network, and cloud storage system be able to handle all of the new remote workers? With a surge of remote work, you may need to increase the capabilities of your networks, Internet services, phone plans, cloud storage plans, and more.

7. How’s your phone system? You might want to switch to VoIP, which can handle remote workers much better than traditional phone plans.

Scammers During the Pandemic

It is extremely unfortunate that during this time of strife for our nation, scam artists are taking advantage of innocent people. The most recent scam to hit Southern Florida involves The Department of Health in Highlands County. There has been an uptick in the number of people claiming they’ve received calls from The Florida Department of Health. These callers supposedly ask for personal information, such as social security numbers, addresses, and more.

This is a scam — a voice phishing or “vishing” scam to be precise. With these scams, “callers impersonate legitimate companies to steal money and personal and financial information.”

The Florida Department of Health has reiterated that it will never call you individually, asking for personal, sensitive information. The only reason you would ever receive a call from The Florida Department of Health is as a call back (returning your call). If you receive a call from The Florida Department of Health or any other supposedly legitimate entity, but you feel it is suspicious, just hang up.
